First Day of School!

Sorry this has taken FOREVER for me to update!  Life has been full at the Lantz house these days!  Emma is so excited to be in First Grade at Meehan Elementary and this year Lucy goes to preschool at Immanual Lutheren School.  We are blessed to have wonderful teachers for both of the girls!  We pray for this school year, that the Lord protects & guides the path of our daughters.

What to do on a HOT rainy day in July?

I was inspired by a friends blog, to bring new life to our old broken crayons!  It was as easy as it looks. Bake them at 250 degrees for about 10-15 min.  (Next time we do it, I will double or triple up on the muffin papers because the wax did leak onto my muffin tin and took some good long soaking to get it clean.)  Emma & Lucy loved this idea, and insisted that all of their crayons be multi-colored.

 

Let them cool for about 15 min. and then pop them out of the papers.  Then...

create colorful rainbow swirly masterpieces!

Good Ol Fishing Derby

It's that time of the year again...the fishing derby at Grandma & Papa Witz's neighborhood lake.  Emma caught 3 itty bitty ones & Lucy caught one too.  It was a great day!  Look how cute Grandma & Papa with their youngest 4 Grandkids! :-) (Caed, Emma, Lucy & Shea)

Christmas in July

Soooo, I've been on a cleaning/organizing kick lately and I realized that one of my major road blocks to complete organizational harmony (is that even possible?!) is that I do not have a centralized place for craft supplies.  I have craft supplies in every room of the house...stuffed here and there with no rhyme or reason.  Anyway, completely unrelated, I have been wanting a round kitchen table like forever and Sean's parents just gave us their old table (which looks amazing in kitchen!) and when we carried our old table down to the basement, a brilliant idea came to us.  A craft area in the basement!  I LOOOOVE IT!  It will be even more fabulous when we finish our basement someday.  But, for now we fixed up an area ghetto style with odds & ends (an old entertainment center, Sean's childhood dresser, and baskets I had lying around) and stapled old bed sheets to the beams to block off our junk storage area.  I came across so many fun crafts for the girls to do.  The first thing they did was 2 Christmas tree crafts...Emma made a tissue paper tree and Lucy made a popsicle stick ornament (you can sorta see them on the table).  Extra special credit goes out to my hubby who helped make this happen!  I feel so inspired to finish projects and maybe even work on my scrapbooks! (side note....there are bins & bins & bins full of scrapbook stuff, bow-making stuff and fabric easliy accesible from behind the curtain)

Hiking Rock Cut

We had a family day at Rock Cut...hike & picnic the other day.  What a great park!  We did get a few mosquito bites, but other than that a really great day enjoying the great outdoors.  Sometimes it seems like there's not many things that you can do as a family that doesn't cost a ton of $...which made us appreciate this day that much more.

But, we are so proud of Emma and her new skill...and she is so confident already!  I suppose cycling is in her genes, but I am totally impressed at how quickly she learned (without a skinned knee or elbow)!
